Mickey's Rival Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Mortimer Mouse Animation Drawings Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1936). An outstanding group of original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings featuring all three sides of this romantic triangle, from the short directed by Wilfred Jackson. Mickey Mouse shows a shocked/outraged expression in the first piece, done in graphite; the image measures about 2", and the lower right is marked 139. A seductive Minnie Mouse is in the second drawing; she's in graphite with blue and red pencil, for an image size of 4", with 113-A written in the lower right. Finally, we have the title character, city-slicker Mortimer Mouse; he's also in graphite with red pencil in a full-figure image size of 5" and the number 32 in the lower right. Mortimer's drawing paper is slightly longer, and has considerable edge and storage wear along the right side (well away from the image); it's in Good condition, while the other two are in Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
