Description

Mickey's Mellerdrammer Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1933). Mickey Mouse prepares for his "cross-dressing" role as Topsy in a barnyard version of the classic anti-slavery play Uncle Tom's Cabin. This Wilfred Jackson-directed short is the product of a different era, when "Tom Shows," as they were called, were still commonplace. This is a rare group of four original 12 field, 2-peghole animation drawings of Mickey as he picks up his Topsy costume and puts it on. The drawings are rendered with graphite, and they are marked in their lower right corners with 6, 23, 30, and 373. They are in Very good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including age-related toning, minor smudging, and a few tiny edge tears. There is a small ink smudge on the top right corner of drawing 30.
