Mickey Mouse Mousecar Award (Walt Disney, 1960s). A Mousecar is the Disney Studio equivalent of the Academy Awards' "Oscar". This is a highly coveted in-house trophy given to employees for exceptional service to the company and the community at-large. It is considered much rarer than its sister award, the Duckster. This is a rare second generation Mousecar Award which has a wood base rather than the Bakelite bases of the first generation. Total height is approximately 9" with Mickey measuring 6" tall on a base of approximately 3". The award was given to Betty Ann Geunther (1917 - 2010) who in 1937 got her start at Disney in the Ink and Paint department during the studio's rush to complete Snow White. She eventually became a supervisor and stayed with Disney well into the days of Xerography. These awards are treasured family heirlooms and rarely come up for sale. There are two small spots on Mickey's face where the bronze finish has rubbed off and it appears that the nameplate has been re-glued to the base. Very Good condition.
