Mickey Mouse Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1940). Mickey Mouse in what is unquestionably his most famous role... the Sorcerer's Apprentice! When you say Fantasia to people... this is the image in their head. Mickey, wearing the "borrowed" Sorcerer's hat, stands a nice 7" tall on this hand-inked, hand-painted nitrate cel. This is the first time Mickey appeared with pupils in his eyes, as it was the new design by Fred Moore. This segment from the beloved, classic, feature film was originally going to be a stand-alone theatrical short. The trimmed nitrate cel is stapled to a sheet of 12 field 5-peghole animation paper which bears a Walt Disney Productions stamp. This is one of the largest cels of Mickey in this role we have ever seen! There is paint loss in the hat, body, and feet, however the face is intact. The cel is rippling slightly. It is from the personal collection of the late Louise Bauer. These cels were given to Miss Bauer by the Walt Disney Company for her to use as reference in her work to design a line of Mickey Mouse and Disney character pottery and ceramics. Overall in Good condition. Classic image and pose, this one is pure magic!
