Mickey Mouse Annual Illustrations Original Art Group of 6 (Walt Disney/Dean & Son, 1954). It's a real shame the United States did not have the same Disney Annual illustrated storybooks that were published in the United Kingdom, as each one was chock full of great artwork not seen stateside. Here's a fantastic selection of artwork used in the 1954 Mickey Mouse Annual (a note about the date: the copyright notice in the book is 1953, but this particular book was actually published the year after). First up is the "This Book Belongs To" image that appears on page 6 (counting the covers as pages; otherwise, page 4) featuring Goofy and a brown cat similar to Milton in Plutopia (1951); image size, including lettering, is approximately 6.75" x 6.5", board size 9" x 9.5". "To Market, To Market" from book page 13 features both Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse in three small illos, that have a combined image size of 4.75" x 10.25", with a board size of 10.75" x 13" (title on artboard is also hand-lettered). Goofy appears in "The Wire Walker" on page 14, seen in four images; overall image size (including title) is 9" x 11.25", board size is 10.75" x 14.5". Second page of this story includes another three images of Goofy plus one other; image size is also 9" x 11.25", board size is 10.75" x 14.5". Next up is the title illo for "One Sunny Afternoon" on page 50, with Donald and Pluto; image size is 9" x 5.5", board size is 10.5" x 7.5". The final illo is from the back of the book, page 93's "What You Have Read," a "backward" table of contents page. Here's the art for that page featuring Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto, with an image area of 9" x 11.25", on board measuring 10.5" x 13.75". All are painted with gouache and ink on illustration board with onionskin overlays, many with a "Walt Disney Studio" stamp on the overlay or board. Overall condition is Good, with handling and edge wear.
