Mickey Mouse "1928 - 1935" Presentation Sketches by Ward Kimball, Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1982). The birth of modern-day Disney Fandom began in 1968, when Ed Levin, who operated the Nickelodeon nostalgia shop in Sherman Oaks, CA, organized a small group of Disney collectors under the name "The Mouse Club." Their first convention occurred in 1982, where special guest Ward Kimball gave a presentation on his years at the Disney Studios. He created two large illustrations during his talk, each with two images of Mickey Mouse. The first of the two contrasts Mickey's earliest design with changes the studio made in the 1930s. The second of the two shows face-on portraits of Mickey as he appeared in 1935, and a modern-day "bow-tie" version ("He's become a sissy!!" laughed Kimball). The art is in black marker on poster board measuring 18" x 21.5", with image sizes of 13" x 10.5" and 12.5" x 11" on the first pieces, and an average of 11" x 10" on the second. The boards are neatly shrink-wrapped to a thick cardboard backer, ready to hang. Both are signed and inscribed to Ed Levin. Very Good condition.
