    Description

Met Life Peanuts TV Commercial Snoopy and Lucy Production Cel Setup with Master Painted Background (Bill Melendez, 1994). Snoopy says, "Get Met -- it pays!" In 1985, Metropolitan Insurance began to use Snoopy and the Peanuts characters in a series of animated TV commercials. This relationship lasted 31 years, until 2016. This is an original hand-painted production cel of Lucy and Snoopy from a 1994 Peanuts Metropolitan Life Insurance Commercial. This is a Master setup with the Lucy and Snoopy cels placed on a 12 field Dean Spille-painted Master production background. This great background displays Snoopy's doghouse. With the commercial only being 30 seconds long, this is one rare Snoopy Master setup. Characters are 2" and 3" on a 12 field cel marked "WALKING." In the world of Snoopy and animation, it doesn't get much better than this classic image! Some tape on borders, otherwise Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
