Mary Blair Peter Pan "Neverland Lagoon" Original Concept/Color Key Painting Original Art (Walt Disney, c. 1950s). "There was something about Mary Blair's style that appealed to Walt's sensitivity: the way she projected a childlike innocence into her art or, perhaps, her uncanny sense of color." Says Didier Ghez in his book, They Drew as They Pleased: The Hidden Art of Disney's Mid-Century Era. "Walt's self-discovery made Mary Blair the most influential Disney concept artist of the 1950s." Mary Blair was Color Stylist/Art Director on Peter Pan, along with John Hench, Claude Coats, and Don DaGradi. Here is an extraordinary concept painting of Neverland Lagoon by Disney Legend Inductee, Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). The piece features colorful and stylized foliage growing around the Neverland lagoon, rendered in oil paint on board. Classic Mary Blair! The art is in a frame of 19" x 17" with a mat opening of 10" x 8.5". Frame sold as-is. Fine condition.
