Description

Mary Blair Peter Pan Five Characters Flying Over Tower Bridge Concept Pan Painting (Walt Disney, 1953). "Think of the happiest things. It's the same as having wings... You can fly!!!" Peter and Tinker Bell (seen here as a bright firefly-like speck of light) lead young Wendy, John, and Michael Darling through the air past the stately Tower Bridge, in this stunning concept painting by the great Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). We've seen a number of fantastic Mary Blair paintings of Peter Pan and the Darling children flying past the Tower of London, but this is the first we've seen of them flying over the London Bridge Tower! Mary Blair was certainly the queen of the Golden Age Disney concept artists, one whose work was much admired by Walt Disney. Owning a Mary Blair original Disney painting is the ultimate goal of any collector of Disney concept artwork, and this Peter Pan painting will make for quite a trophy. The painting is in gouache with a gloss fixative on an 18.75" x 9.5" piece of heavy illustration board, with an approximate image size of 17.5" x 8". The piece is featured on Page 78 of the newly-released Peter Pan book by Pierre Lambert. The art is in Good to Very Good condition with a slightly warped board, plus tack holes and handling wear in the outer border area; the image itself looks splendid, and will display beautifully. "Come on everybody, here we goooooo! Off to Neverland!"
