    Description

Mary Blair It's a Small World Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1964). Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) is credited with introducing Modernist Art styles to the artists at the Walt Disney Studio, using primary colors to form intense contrast, and colors that can be unnatural to the image they are depicting. Her genius earned her a Disney Legend Award in 1991, and the Windsor McCay Award from ASIFA Hollywood in 1996. This lot showcases the genius of Mary Blair. It's a simply amazing hand-crafted hand-colored cellophane collage used as a design in the It's a Small World World's Fair project. So many different colors and geometric shapes make up this detailed plastic sculpture-like piece! Mounted on heavy 11" x 14" illustration board, with "Small World 1962" on the backside (two years before the World's Fair attraction opened). It's one of the most unique Mary Blair pieces we've seen. A few pieces are beginning to work loose; otherwise Fine condition.
