    Mary Blair Cinderella Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1950). "Oh, just leave it to me. What a gown this will be! Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!" Presented is an original early concept painting of Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother by the hand of none other than Disney Legend Inductee Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). 1950's animated feature masterpiece Cinderella came in a timely manner as Walt Disney Productions approached bankruptcy due to their lost European film markets during World War II. The post-war Cinderella became the greatest critical and commercial success since 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and it single-handedly brought Disney back into a long legacy of financial success and critical acclaim. This success can be attributed to the expert team of animators at Disney, including, of course, the masterful color stylings and conceptual design of Mary Blair. Blair's creative stamp can be seen throughout Cinderella, and her contribution to the film significantly guided its iconic fairy tale look and feel. This early concept piece of an iconic key scene is rendered stunningly in gouache on 9" x 8" illustration board. It shows some handling wear with surface scuffs and debris around the border, and there are pinholes in the corners. Overall the condition is Very Good.
