    Mary Blair Cinderella Coach Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1951). Presented is an incredible hand-painted original piece of concept/Color Key art created for the 1950 animated feature Cinderella by the fantastic Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). An uncommonly large piece for Mary Blair, this painting rendered in gouache on 19.75" x 9.25" illustration board is a jaw-dropping and bold piece in a quality that only Mary Blair could achieve. The signature full moon, the confident, large strokes of the brush, and the fearless use of green punctuated by small highlights of a complementary pink. This palette likely left a mark on Blair's fellow concept painter Eyvind Earle: similar colors are used in his work for the climactic final battle of Sleeping Beauty. Framed by the stark black silhouettes of roofs and houses, Blair masterfully creates the illusion of depth with the elegant use of flat shapes. This spectacular piece shows minor handling and edge wear with pinholes in the corners, and the condition is Very Good.
