    Description

Mary Blair Alice in Wonderland Queen of Hearts Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1951). "Off with her head!" The gorgeous use of color in the animated feature film Alice in Wonderland may have been inspired by the wonderful concept art paintings from the hand of Mary Blair (1911-1978). She was one of a handful of color stylists on this film. Her paintings no doubt had a great influence on the film's art direction. This particular piece is one of the most dramatic concept paintings by Mary Blair that we've seen! It's a terrific tempera and watercolor painting of Alice fleeing from the angry Queen of Hearts and her Playing Card army. The size is an unheard of 20" x 9" artboard. Tack holes in the outer corners, otherwise Fine condition.
