Mickey Mouse Car Mascot/Hood Ornament (Walt Disney/Desmo, 1934). Hood ornaments were ubiquitous from the dawn of motoring well into the 1970s and long after they served any purpose. They ultimately became decorative elements featuring a car maker's brand or logo. Companies like Desmo created after-market accessory mascots for motorists as an alternative to that of the manufacturer's. This is the very rare 1934 car mascot/hood ornament of Mickey Mouse made by the Desmo Corporation in England. The 3.5" tall chrome-plated Mickey figure features his early pie-eyes, 2-button shorts, whip-like tail, and bears the Desmo name embossed on his back. It is mounted to a 2" tall round wooden base for a combined height of 5.5". Adding to its rarity is that Mickey's delicate tail remains completely intact. This is an incredibly hard to find item from a bygone era and a true Disneyana treasure. Condition is Very Good.
