Description

Bump in the Night Mr. Bumpy Original Maquette Sculpture (ABC Children's Television, c. 1994). Bump in the Night began as a series of ad bumpers of ABC's Saturday morning children's programming, but it soon developed into a full-fledged stop motion series, with two seasons and one Christmas special. The show is remembered fondly by many for its wacky premise and personable characters, as well as its animation and practical effects. In this series, a small monster named Mr. Bumpy lives under the bed of a 10-year-old boy, and the series chronicles his adventures with his friends. Mr. Bumpy was voiced by the talented Jim Cummings. This is a charming original maquette sculpture of Mr. Bumpy, created by Norm DeCarlo. Mr. DeCarlo was the Art Director and Chief Sculptor for the series, and he perfectly captured Mr. Bumpy's energy and personality in this maquette. This sculpt was used to create the final design for Mr. Bumpy for the series, and it is made of hand-painted epoxy. The piece's base measures approximately 11.5" x 8", and the maquette is about 11" tall. The piece is Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and wear, as well as some debris. There are a few cracks in the sculpture, including one on the foot and a few on the eye-stalks.
