    Description

Aladdin Jafar and Iago Maquette (Walt Disney, 1992). This is a very rare original studio maquette of Jafar. It is marked #8 (of only 21 made) on the bottom. The gray maquette was hand-painted for "The Art of Aladdin" auction held in New York on October 9, 1993. This was lot #259. Painting was done by Disney's Ink and Paint Department, located on the studio lot in Burbank. Jafar stands 14" tall on a base of 10". Iago is a detachable addition and fits into Jafar's shoulder. Maquettes are extremely rare and important part of the animation filmmaking process. Rarely do you ever see maquettes come up from this film, and with Will Smith starring as the Genie in Disney's new live-action version, interest in Aladdin is at an all-time high. Fine condition.
