101 Dalmatians Studio Maquette Set of 4 (Walt Disney, 1961). Here is an interesting lot: an extremely rare set of four Walt Disney Studios 101 Dalmatians animation maquettes. Included are Studio-created maquettes of Pongo, Perdita, and two versions of Lucky (one with a base, and one without). It is interesting in that they have no spots. This could be as that was felt to be a special effect at the time. Pongo stands 9" x 5" x 10.5", Perdita is 9.75" x 4" x 9.25", Lucky with base is 8" x 4.75" x 7" and Lucky with no base is 8" x 3" x 6". Maquettes began being produced by Joe Grant in 1940 in his Character Model Department; they were designed to give 3D reference for every department in the making of animated films. This tradition is still carried on today. This is the very first studio set of maquettes we have ever seen come up of these characters. They are from the personal collection of a longtime Disney Art Director. Minor handling; Very Good overall condition.
