Madeline Production Cels Group of 2 (UPA, 1952). "In an old house in Paris, that was covered in vine, lived twelve little girls, in two straight lines" This is how the Robert Cannon-directed Jolly Frolics cartoon Madeline opens. This short was released on 11/27/52. A young Bill Melendez did a great deal of animation on this story that was co-written by Bill Scott. This is a rare hand-inked, hand-painted 2-cel setup of Miss Clavel and the classmates. Gray backing sheet has printed in bottom corner "Original by UPA." Cels are stapled in top corner. The cels are in a mat measuring 20" x 16" with a mat opening of 12" x 9.5". A second production cel of Miss Clavel in same size mat is also in this lot. This short was nominated for an Academy Award. Minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
