Lullaby Land Production Cel Setup and Pan Master Background (Walt Disney, 1933). Outstanding hand-inked hand-painted production cel setup from this Silly Symphony classic! This short was released on 8/19/33 and directed by Wilfred Jackson; it had animation done by Art Babbitt, Ben Sharpsteen, Ham Luske, Roy Williams, Ed Love, and Dick Heumer, among others. Layouts on this beautiful film included work by Ferdinand Horvath. The framed setup has all the major scenes trimmed to image of cel and mounted to a Master Disney production pan background. Cels include the opening scene of the Baby and his Gingham dog in their bed, entering "Dreamland," being chased by the matches and Boogie Men in "Forbidden Garden," and finally, the Sandman sprinkling sand to put them back to sleep and return them home. Four major scenes in all are mounted to the background. The pan background that the cels are mounted on measures 38" x 9". A portion of this background can be seen at the 5:43 mark. This is from the private collection of Lowell H. Keeley. He was the longtime studio projectionist for Walt Disney Studios, from 1938 to 1975. The quilt in this film inspired the garden section of Storybook Canal Boats of Disneyland. A very important piece of Silly Symphony history! Framed with glass. Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
