Popeye "Canadiens 24th" Signed Studio Proof Cel #5/6 (Fleischer Studios/King Features Syndicate/NHL, 1993). The Montreal Canadiens take the Stanley Cup in this hand-inked, hand-painted cel featuring Popeye in a Montreal uniform. Throughout the 1990s, King Features released a series of limited edition cels featuring the Popeye cast. These were then signed by the legendary animator of Fleischer Studios, and winner of the 1997 Winsor McCay Award, Myron Waldman (1908 - 2006). This entry in the series is based off the 1993 Stanley Cup final with the Game 5 score on the board - Los Angeles Kings 1 and Montreal Canadiens 4. Celebrating Montreal's 24th Stanley Cup win! Holding the NHL trophy in one hand and a can of spinach in the other the total painted surface of the image measures at approximately 7.25" x 8". The 12 field cel has been placed over a print background for display purposes. Signed in ink by Waldman by the bottom left near a King Features seal and the notation of Studio Proof 5/6 at the bottom right next to an NHL seal. COA from King Features is included, it does misspell the team's name. In Fine condition.Auction Info
