Mulan Matchmaker and Mulan Employee-Exclusive Limited Edition Cel #32/160 (Walt Disney, 1998). "Recite the final admonition. Well?" "Fulfill your duties calmly and ref-spectfully. Reflect before you snack... Act! This shall bring you honor and glory." Mulan struggles through her meeting with a strict matchmaker in the first scenes of the Disney Renaissance classic Mulan. This beloved 1998 hit was animated digitally, meaning no cels were used in production. The Walt Disney Studios Ink and Paint Department nonetheless created limited edition cels to be exclusively distributed among employees who worked on the film. This humorous image can be seen at the 56:12 mark of Mulan. The 16 field-size cel is displayed on a printed background, and it bears a Walt Disney Feature Animation seal in the lower right corner. It is numbered 32 of only 160 made. The piece is joined by a Certificate of Authenticity. An extremely rare employee-exclusive cel, direct from the collection of Disney Renaissance director Mike Gabriel (The Rescuers Down Under, Pocahontas)! The hand-inked and hand-painted cel is displayed on printed background and mounted to a 22.75" x 17" archival foamcore board. A protective sheet of acetate overlays the piece.
