Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 "A Lesson Learned" Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey Mouse Limited Edition Cel #180/300 (Walt Disney, 1999). In 1999, a special Fantasia hand-painted limited edition cel was released, made using archival original animation drawings from the Disney Animation Research Library. The drawings were from Sequence 7, Scenes 87 and 88. The hand-painted oversized cel featured images of Mickey Mouse in his greatest role as the Sorcerer's Apprentice alongside the Sorcerer, Yen Sid ("Disney" spelled backward). This cel had nine colored ink lines and 27 Disney paint colors. It was painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department, in an edition of only 300. It was an almost instant sell-out. The cel was hand-signed by 1992 Disney Legend Inductee Mr. Joe Grant (1908 - 2005). Mr. Grant was a co-writer on this film and was responsible for starting the Disney Character Model Department. He served two tours of employment duty working with the Walt Disney Studios. Great large image sizes of 8" and 15". Mat opening on this oversized cel is 13" x 18", in an overall Plexiglas-front frame measuring 23" x 27". A Disney seal is on the cel and Disney COA is on back of the frame. Stunning images!
