    Description

    Donald Duck's 50th Birthday Limited Edition Suite of 4 Cels plus Presentation Box (Walt Disney, 1984). Donald Duck turned 50 in 1984 and the Walt Disney Company had a major campaign to celebrate this historic event, including Theme Park celebrations, a TV Special and much more. The studio also released a rare Four Cel Suite of hand-painted cels from some of Donald's most memorable appearances. Archived vintage drawings were used and the four cel suite was hand-painted at the famous Disney Ink and Paint Department on the Studio lot. Each cel had a Disney seal on them and a Disney COA. The edition was only 275. This is a rare matched set, edition number 195. This suite has been sold out for over 30 years. The suite includes images of Donald with his famous co-stars from theatrical shorts: with Goofy, Scene 3 from Bill Posters (1940); with his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie in Scene 13 from Hockey Champ (1939); with Daisy, Scene 29.6 from Donald's Crime (1945); and with Mickey Mouse, Scene 18 from Magician Mickey (1937). All are in mats of 20" x 17" with mat openings of 14" x 11". Large images of 4" - 7". Slight lamination separation along some outlines, otherwise cel condition is Very Good. The velvet box the suite came in is framed with glass in a metal frame measuring 16.5" x 13". Frame is sold as-is; box condition is Very Good. There are FOUR 16 field hand-painted cels plus the framed presentation box in this group.
