    Description

Disney TV Commercial Model Sheets Group of 7 (Walt Disney, 1950's). Here is a collection of historic animation model sheets of Disney characters drawn in the modern style of the 1950s. These are by Disney animator Tom Oreb (1924 - 2009), a pioneer of the highly stylized, mid-century animation, and the animator chosen to head Disney Studio's brief foray into the new world of TV commercials. Included in this lot are models of feature characters from Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan as well as stars from studio shorts such as "Peg-Leg-Less Pete" (now a cat without a peg leg), Ipana Toothpaste's Bucky Beaver (a Disney Studio creation), and a thoroughly modern Mickey Mouse (for American Motors). One of the Mickey models can be seen on page 152 in the book Cartoon Modern by Amid Amidi. Mr. Oreb's modern style defined an era and these models exemplify that style. They range in size from 11" x 17", 12.5" x 16.5, and 21" x 28" and four are mounted to backing board. The Alice model is the largest and was folded in quarters. It is in two pieces, having separated at the center fold, and the lower left quarter is missing. The rest show basic handling and corner wear and age; otherwise, condition is Good.
