Description

Akira Tetsuo and Kaneda Production Cel Setup with Animation Drawing (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). "What's this light?" Kaneda and Tetsuo finally talk face to face during his rampage, but the military is prepared to stop their failed experiment at any cost. The chaos that the dangerous beam from their satellite causes is front and center in this stunning pair of production cels, the glowing purple fire spreading rapidly as Tetsuo is hit with the beam. These two old friends can be found at about 1:36:05 as Kaneda shields his eyes and backs away, both full figure. The second cel in the setup and the animation drawing look to be created for a scene roughly 15 minutes later in the film as the blast from the Espers expands over the city. Both cels combined are enormous, measuring about 13.5'' x 8'', with the first marked B43 and the second cel and animation drawing marked D61. The animation drawing does include a few notes in Japanese. This intense scene from the hit film is in Good to Very Good condition overall with light edge and handling wear, stuck cels/drawing, and minor fading to the linework.
