Description

"The Skeleton Dance" SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Cel #6/41 (Walt Disney, 1929/2006). Boo! It's never too late - or early - to start preparing for Halloween and we've got you covered with this rare scarily good limited edition cel! Titled after the iconic short The Skeleton Dance, the hand-inked and hand-painted cel was only available for purchase from the 26th of October 2006 to midnight on the 31st and has been long sold out in the nearly 20 years since. The Skeleton Dance was Disney's first Silly Symphony and was released on 8/22/1929. It centered around four skeletons rising from their graves and remains one of the most popular Silly Symphonies, inspiring cameos in The Haunted House, House of Mouse, and even Epic Mickey 2. The skeleton and cats, approximately 9.75'' x 3.5'' combined, were created from the scene at about 1:37 when the poor cats literally have their hair scared off of them and are displayed on a print recreation of the background from the scene that was made from reference material provided by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. The lot is displayed in a 21'' x 18'' Plexiglas-fronted frame with a Walt Disney Company Seal and the low edition number 6/41 in the lower right and COA on the reverse. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Very Good to Fine condition with light handling.
