"The Art of Elmer Plummer" Group of Historical Art Documents (Walt Disney, c. 1950s-1980s). Elmer Plummer's career included teaching at Chouinard, which later became California Institute of the Arts aka CalArts. Plummer won a three-year scholarship to Chouinard and studied under Willard Sheets. This lot shows his dedication to teaching and to his importance in terms of the history of animation. In this lot is Elmer Plummer's handwritten attendance record for a semester of a class that included such animation heavyweights as Darrell Van Citters, John Lasseter, Brad Bird and John Musker to name a few. If you only had a crystal ball back then to tell you where their careers would take them! Arguably this is a very important document in art history. Also in this lot is Elmer Plummer's bound copy of his 1957 Chouinard Art Institute's short term needs relative to space and resources and additional reports on short range needs dated January 1958 along with minutes of a 1957 planning committee meeting. Also included in this lot are typed notes on his first - third course outlines for a semester at Chouinard. The lot is folded, with edge wear and handling wear; otherwise Good condition. This is a historical perspective lot of major importance and insight. By the way, here's an interesting bit of trivial, concerning the room number mentioned in the attendance sheet. Several students in this class went on to be heavy hitters at Pixar, and in every Pixar movie is a reference to A-113, an affectionate "Easter Egg" referencing the birthplace of Pixar animation. The class location on this sheet is A-113! From the Elmer Plummer Archives.

More Information: EDIT: Added trivia information concerning the room number A-113, when Elmer Plummer's classes were held. The room number is mentioned in all animated Pixar films.
