"A Tribute to Termite Terrace - Wile E. Coyote" Beep, Beep Signed Limited Edition Cel #30/200 (Warner Brothers, 1998). Poor old Wile E. can't catch a break when trying to catch the Road Runner. His schemes always backfire, like in this hand-painted limited edition cel. This scene was inspired by the Chuck Jones-directed short Beep, Beep (1952); in it, Wile E. chases the Road Runner (who is actually named "Beep Beep" in comic books) into a dark mine tunnel; lighting a match to find his way, he sees explosives everywhere -- YIPE! This cel was part of Jones' "Stars of Termite Terrace" series; the scene in the short begins at about the 4:20 mark. The cel's painted area includes Wile E, his lit match, and the two TNT boxes he's leaning on, with an overall image area measuring approximately 7" x 7". The 12.5" x 10.5" cel, which has been sold out for over 20 years, is lightly affixed to a black paper backing. Signed by animation legend Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) in the lower right, and a photocopied Linda Jones letter that accompanied the cel when originally sold. Excellent condition.
