    Description

Lantz Studios "Merry Christmas" Specialty Art for Walter and Gracie Lantz Group of 4 (Walter Lantz, 1959-71). A Christmas tradition at the Lantz Studios was for one of the artists to whip up a special piece of artwork to present to the boss, with staffers signing the large-scale pieces. Included in this group are four rare holiday "cards," each an original piece of art done in ink with watercolor, gouache, or color pencils on heavy illustration board. In the group are cards for 1959 (approximately 11.5" x 15"), 1967 (11" x 17"), 1968 (10.5" x 17"), and 1971 (14" x 18"). Woody Woodpecker appears on three, one also with Chilly Willy, Buzz Buzzard, The Beary Family, and Maxie the Polar Bear. There are many notable signatures on these oversized cards – Ray Abrams, Homer Brightman, Tom Byrne, Al Coe, Laverne Harding, Les Kline, Art Landy, Alex Lovy, Bob Miller, Don Patterson, Paul Smith, Gil Turner, Joe Voght... and a lot more! Overall condition is Very Good, with handling wear.
