Lady and the Tramp Tramp and Muzzled Lady Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1955). This original 16 field 3-peghole final animation drawing of Lady and Tramp was created by a Disney Studios animator in production of Walt Disney's CinemaScope animated feature Lady and the Tramp, and a cel painting was made directly from it. It is an animator's extreme drawing with grid at right. Tramp leads Lady into the zoo to seek help in removing her muzzle, yet their close encounter with a hungry alligator leaves them seated in an open space and wearing these wide-eyed expressions. Veteran animator Don Lusk supervised this scene of Lady and Tramp. Mr. Lusk came to work at The Walt Disney Studios in 1933 at age 19 and soon became a full animator on the short cartoons. However, he wanted to participate in the making of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) so much that he gave up being a full animator to oversee clean-up work on the forest animals. On Pinocchio (1940) he was the principal animator of Geppetto's pet goldfish, Cleo; the sensuous goldfish in the "Arabian Dance" in Fantasia (1940); he then supervised the Great Stag in Bambi (1942). After service in World War II he returned to Disney to animate on all of the animated features from Song of the South (1946) to One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961); his work on Fun and Fancy Free (1947) was uncredited. The animator wrote the studio designation 27" at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene. The art is in graphite with red and green color pencils, with an approximate image area of 4" x 3.5". Two of the pegholes are reinforced. Condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
