Knighty Knight Bugs Bugs Bunny Production Cel and Custom Background (Warner Brothers, 1958). "Only a fool would go after the singing sword!" says Court Jester Bugs Bunny to King Arthur in the opening 1:12 of this important Warner Brothers cartoon short. Here's an original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Bugs Bunny in his Court Jester outfit. The short was directed by Friz Freleng, written by Warren Foster, and had all the voices done by Mel Blanc. It was released on 8/23/58. It is the ONLY Bugs Bunny theatrical cartoon to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Short. Bugs had been nominated twice prior and lost. The story is about the Bugs (as Court Jester) trying to retrieve the stolen Singing Sword from the Black Knight (Yosemite Sam) and his fire-breathing dragon! Great full-figure image cel from the opening scene, with a size of 5". A Warner Brothers Cartoons Inc. thin 1950s sticker is on the bottom of the cel. The cel is on a custom hand-painted background made for presentation purposes. Setup is matted, with an opening of 11.5" x 10.5"; framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 24" x 21". Very important and rare piece of Looney Tunes animation history! Fine condition.
