Description

The Great Savannah Exposition Original 44" x 24" Gouache on Board Study Art for a Mural at The Savannah History Museum by Eddie Martinez for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, c. 1984). This original study by Eddie Martinez for The Great Savannah Exposition mural is an impressive example of Landmark Entertainment's early work in themed cultural attractions. Measuring 44" x 24" and rendered in gouache on board, the artwork was created in 1984 for the Savannah History Museum, housed in the historic Central of Georgia Railway passenger shed. The mural helped bring to life the city's rich heritage in a dramatic, immersive way, blending storytelling and visual spectacle. Designed in collaboration with Landmark Entertainment Group, the mural reflects the firm's signature approach to large-scale entertainment projects, combining theatrical flair with historical narrative. Co-founded by Gary Goddard and Tony Christopher, Landmark became known for groundbreaking attractions at Universal Studios, including Jurassic Park: The Ride and Terminator 2: 3D. Artist Eddie Martinez, a prominent illustrator in the 1980s and 1990s, contributed many such renderings to Landmark projects. His gouache studies, bold and cinematic, communicated emotional impact before a single element was built. This study, with taped borders, surface wear, and corner damage, remains in Good condition-a rare artifact of Savannah's museum history and Landmark's design legacy.
