Description
Pinocchio Geppetto, Figaro, Cleo, and Monstro 5" x 3.5" Original Promotional Art (Walt Disney, 1940). A surprised Gepetto finds the colossal Monstro, accompanied by Cleo and Figaro, in this lot, featuring the original promotional art created for the trading cards by De Baukelaer, the Belgian cookie manufacturer. During the promotion, cookies and chocolates by this brand would include trading cards retelling the events of the iconic Disney film Pinocchio. Incredibly detailed for its size, this original art showcases a scene that we don't get to see in the movie, moments before Geppetto is eaten by the furious whale, rendered in gouache and ink on the 5" x 3.5" board. This illustration corresponds to the card #90 in the series. Tape residue can be seen on the top, bottom, and right edges of the board. Pinholes are present on the left corners, and the board presents light age-related toning. In Very Good condition with light handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
