Peter Pan and the Pirates Little Golden Book D73 Interior Illustrations by Bob Moore Original Art plus Published Book Group of 5 (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1952). "I'll get even with Pan if it's the last thing I do!" declares Captain Hook in this Little Golden Book, one of three issued before the animated feature film was released in 1953. This book focuses on the Pirates as they capture Tinker Bell, the three Darling children, and the Lost Boys. Here are four excellent original illustrations from the hand of Disney Legend Bob Moore (1920 - 2001); for years, Bob has been famous as the man who "signed" for Walt Disney's many autograph requests; by 1951, this former animator became an Advertising Art Director. This lot includes Bob's original gouache/watercolor art on illustration board for the Never Never Land map on page 2 (approximate image size 8.75" x 5"); Mr. Smee finding Tinker Bell admiring her own reflection, page 7 (image size 8" x 8"); two pirates with captured John, Wendy, and Michael Darling (and Michael's teddy bear) while in silhouette, another pirate has captured two of the Lost Boys, page 13 (image size 8.75" x 8.25"); and a superb image of Mr. Smee and Captain Hook planting a bomb at the base of the hollow tree that leads to Peter Pan's secret home, page 14 (image size 8.5" x 8"). A second printing copy of the published book is included, with a gift inscription dated June 1958. The artwork is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear, plus old tape and a few light stains in the outer borders, away from the images.Auction Info
