Peter and the Wolf Mickey Mouse Club Book Pages 11, 23, 26, and 27 Illustrations by Richard Kelsey Original Art Group of 4 plus #D5 Published Book (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1947). Here are four rare Peter and the Wolf illustrations from Mickey Mouse Club/Little Golden Book #D5, published in 1947 shortly after the release of Disney's anthology feature Make Mine Music. These colorful original illustrations are from the hand of Dick Kelsey (1905 - 1987), an animation art director, theme park designer, and highly regarded children's book illustrator. This artwork is painted in gouache and ink on 7.5" x 10" Bristol board, with image sizes of approximately 6.75" x 8.5" on each. These beautiful illustrations featuring Peter, Ivan the cat, Sasha the songbird, and Sonia the duck (and the wolf, of course), were formerly owned by legendary comic art dealer turned publisher Bruce Hamilton (1932 - 2005), the man who brought Disney comic books back after Western Publishing's Gold Key line had ended; a COA comes with the art as well as a first-edition copy of the published book. These artboards all have border stains and multiple tack holes, but the images are unaffected and still vibrant.
