Peter and the Wolf Mickey Mouse Club Book Front Cover Illustration by Richard Kelsey Original Art with #D56 Published Book in Framed Display (Walt Disney/Simon & Shuster, 1947). Peter rides the defeated Wolf accompanied by Sasha the bird in this superb painted cover illustration. The first edition of this storybook based on a segment for the anthology film Make Mine Music (1946), which in turn was based on a 1936 Russian musical fairy tale by Sergi Prokofiev. The art for this cover is by Richard "Dick" Kelsey (1905 - 1987), who worked on Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and several other classic Disney animated films. The painting is in gouache with airbrushed background and is in a double mat alongside the published book; the art aperture size is approximately 10" x 12.5". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The display is framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 25.5" x 19". The art is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear and a very faint soft horizontal crease about 8" down from the top of the image.Auction Info
