Description
Once Upon a Wintertime Little Golden Book Front Cover Illustration by Tom Oreb plus #D12 Published Book (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1950). Once Upon a Wintertime was originally included as a segment in Disney's musical anthology feature Melody Time in 1948 and was reissued as a stand-alone short in 1954. It was a beautifully animated piece with no dialog, just a song by Frances Langford and a skating couple joined by two rabbits. This #D12 Little Golden Book version was released in 1950, and this time the couple Jenny and Joe do speak, alongside lyrics from the song. The cover art is by Tom Oreb (1913 - 1987), a writer and character design artist at Disney; some of the many films he worked on include Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, Sleeping Beauty, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The art is in gouache on illustration board with an approximate image size of 11" x 13.5". The artboard has been affixed to several more pieces of board using tape; the overall size is 14.75" x 17". A first printing "A" copy of the book is included with the art. The artboard is in Good to Very Good condition due to tape, tack holes, and handling/edge wear, but the image is in Very Good condition with only minor handling.Auction Info
