Description

Mickey Mouse and his Space Ship Little Golden Book Interior Illustrations plus Published Book Group of 6 (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1952). Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck have built a rocket ship to try winning a big prize for being the first to the moon, but their trip is almost ruined by Pegleg Pete in this 1952 children's storybook. In this great group are five original painted illustrations by artist John Ushler, who specialized in illustrating Dell comic book adaptations of Disney films like Treasure Island and Davy Crockett. He later joined Disney circa 1962 as part of the studio's Comic Strip Department. The illustrations are for pages 6 (Pete following Donald down the street, matted to 7.75" x 6.25", framed to 14.75" x 13.25"); page 9 (Pete steals the spaceship, mat opening 8.5" x 6.75", frame 15.5" x 13.75"); page 10 (Mickey discovers the rocket is gone, mat opening 7.75" x 7.5", frame 14.75" x 14.75"); page 17 (the ship blasts off, mat opening 7.75" x 7.5", frame 14.75" x 14.5") and page 19 (stowaway Pete aims a pistol at Mickey; unframed, image size 8.5" x 6.5", board size 10.25" x 9.75"). All sizes are approximate. The colorful frames have a few minor scratches. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. A first printing copy of the published book is included. The art is in overall Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
