Original acrylic painting Hudson Valley, After Frederic Church by renowned visual artist and Academy Award®-nominated matte painter Harrison Ellenshaw. Measuring 24" x 36", this striking canvas captures a sweeping Hudson Valley vista beneath a dramatic sky layered in rich hues of red, green, and violet. Evoking the luminous landscapes of 19th-century master Frederic Church, Ellenshaw pays homage to the artist's legacy through expressive color and light that bridge realism and modern impression. The title references Church's home and studio, Olana, and the surrounding environment that inspired the Hudson River School-a landscape now linked to the Thomas Cole National Historic Site via the Hudson River Skywalk. Ellenshaw began his career as a matte painter at Walt Disney Studios, later joining Industrial Light & Magic, where he created groundbreaking visual effects for Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He earned an Academy Award® nomination for The Black Hole (1979) and later became head of Buena Vista Visual Effects. In 2016, he received the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award.
