Description

Donald's Golf Game Donald Duck and Nephews Publicity Drawing by Manuel Gonzales Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1938). Offered in this lot is a rare set of three original publicity drawings created for the classic theatrical short Donald's Golf Game. The striking graphite with color pencil publicity drawings, measuring roughly 8'' x 10'' to 10" x 8" on 12 field 5-peghole paper. These drawings were created by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Gonzales immigrated to the US at the age of five and joined Disney in 1936, one of 33 selected over the thousands of applicants. He soon became penciler for the Sunday Mickey Mouse strip at the time and continued to work on that and other comics, theatrical and publicity art, and book art until his retirement. These incredible publicity drawings are rendered in graphite and color pencil, and one is an unfinished drawing rendered in red pencil. Two of the drawings bear the initials of the artist. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, a must-have set for collectors of Gonzales' work and early Disney publicity art.
From the Disney Legend Manuel Gonzalez Archive.
