Description
Donald Duck's Toy Sailboat Little Golden Book Interior Page Illustrations by Sam Armstrong Original Art Group of 10 plus #D40 Published Book (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1954). Proud Donald's toy sailboat took him all summer to build, and now Chip and Dale have "stolen" it, in this Little Golden Book #D40. In this rare group are ten great original illustrations from the book, from the hand of Samuel Armstrong (1893 - 1976), an animator and director with credits that include Bambi, Fantasia (including the "Night on Bold Mountain" segment), and Dumbo. The art is from the following pages: 1 (title page, image size approximately 7.5" x 7"); 2 (publisher's page, image size 6" x 4.5"); 4 (image size 9.5" x 8.5"); 5 (with a wonderful image of Donald napping in his chair, image size 9" x 8.5"); 6 and 7 (double-page spread, image sizes of 9.5" x 9.5" and 9.75" x 12" with space for text); 8 (image size 9" x 9.5"); 9 (image size 9.25" x 9.5"); 10 and 11 (detached double-page, image sizes 9.5" x 8.25" and 9.5" x 8.5"). The art is in gouache/watercolor on skimmed illustration boards with most averaging 9.75" x 12.5" A #D40 first-printing copy of the published book is included. Condition ranges from Good to Very Good; page 2 has some water damage along the bottom of the artboard and there's a tear away from the image on page 8, while all have mostly minor handling wear.More information about Walt Disney Studios - Fab Five.
