Description
Don Rosa "Sailing the Spanish Main Redux" Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck Painting Original Art (Walt Disney, c. 1980s/90s). Don Rosa gives us his version of one of the most famous Disney Ducks paintings by Don's hero, Carl Barks. Based on the front cover art to a comic book (Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #108 from 1949), this image was painted several times with variations; the first of Carl's licensed Disney paintings was a version without Scrooge, painted in 1971. Carl's eighth version was called "Sailing the Spanish Main" (1982) and included the pirate octopus and Uncle Scrooge reeling in a seaweed-covered treasure chest from the deep. It's a great take on this classic image, using Carl's layout with Don's unique Rapidograph mechanical pen inking with watercolor/color markers on board. The painting is matted with an opening of approximately 13.75" x 15.25" and framed with glass for an overall size of 22.25" x 23.75". All frames are sold as-is.
