Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "Whistle While You Work" Snow White Preliminary Illustration by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney/Harper and Brothers, 1937). "Let's clean the house and surprise them!" This 12 field 5-peghole graphite with color pencil preliminary illustration showcases a charming and richly detailed depiction of the famous "Whistle While You Work" musical number of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It was initially created for page 23 in the storybook Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that was released alongside the film. The preliminary illustration intricately captures the details of the dwarfs' cottage full of a variety of woodland critters and Snow White, created by Spanish-born Disney Legend, longtime comic artist, and "Mousecar" award-winner Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Gonzales took over penciling on the Mickey Mouse comic strip for Disney Legend Floyd Gottfredson in 1938 - only two years after he joined to studio to help complete their first animated feature - and his career took off from there as he worked on both daily and Sunday comic strips, promotional comics, and promotional art for Disney shorts and features. This rare preliminary illustration takes up nearly the entire page, and it is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, light folds near the top edge, faint age-related toning, and pinholes in the upper corners.
