Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "The Dwarfs' Washing Song" Pair of Preliminary Storybook Illustrations by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney/Harper and Brothers, 1937). "I'd like to see anybody make me wash!" All seven of the dwarfs are featured in this lovely set of two 12 field 5-peghole preliminary illustrations created for the Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a storybook released with the film in 1937, by Disney Legend and "Mousecar" award-winning artist Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Gonzales joined the studio only a year prior to the film's release in 1936 and became a successful comic strip artist as well as an incredible publicity artist, creating beautiful publicity artwork and comics for both shorts and feature films. The illustrations in this lot are marked for pages 48 and 49, depicting the memorable scene as the dwarves wash up while Grumpy observes in disgust. Some adjustments would have been made between this preliminary artwork and the final watercolor illustration but this preliminary laid the groundwork for what was to come with fantastic detail on the characters and background. The large drawings nearly fill the 12 field sheets, and the set is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.From the Disney Legend Manuel Gonzalez Archive.
