Description

Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and Woodland Critters Original Preliminary Illustration by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney/Harper and Brothers, 1937). "The animals pulled apart the leaves and branches, and Snow White peered through." After her harrowing journey through the dark forest, Snow White stumbles upon the dwarfs' cottage in this outstanding 12 field 5-peghole preliminary illustration. This piece was created by Disney Legend and longtime comic strip and publicity artist Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993) for the 1937 storybook Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, released alongside the groundbreaking film. The storybook told the events of the film while including a handful of deleted scenes like the dwarfs' extended argument about letting Snow White stay with them and the bed-building scene. The beautifully detailed graphite preliminary illustration in this lot captures one of the key scenes in the film! The drawing nearly fills the page, and it is noted for page 20 in the lower left. A magnificent image! Fair to Good condition with edge and handling wear, age-related toning, slight wrinkling, and small tears and fold in corners and edges.
