Description

Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and Woodland Critters Original Preliminary Illustration by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney/Harper and Brothers, 1937). "Came all the little animals... They clustered round her, snuggled in her lap..." Recreating the unforgettable musical number "With a Smile and a Song," this is a beautiful 12 field 5-peghole preliminary storybook illustration. The 8'' x 6'' drawing was created for the Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs storybook published by Harper and Brothers and released with the film in 1937, rendered in graphite by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Gonzales joined the studio in 1936 after applying at the Rockefeller Center in New York and was one of only 33 selected, soon growing into an amazing comic strip artist and publicity artist for Disney shorts and features. This drawing is noted for page 17 in the lower left. Fair to Good condition with light edge and handling wear, a tear at the top peghole, faint age-related toning, and folds in the upper corners away from the artwork.
From the Disney Legend Manuel Gonzalez Archive.
