Description

Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Old Hag Preliminary Illustration by Disney Legend Manuel Gonzales (Walt Disney/Harper and Brothers, 1937). "She climbed into a little boat and pushed her way along the underground stream with a long pole." The Old Hag begins her nefarious journey in this 12 field 5-peghole preliminary illustration. Rendered in graphite, this incredibly detailed drawing was created for the storybook that was released with the animated film in 1937, titled Complete Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It was published by Harper and Brothers and many of the preliminary illustrations, including this one, were created by Disney Legend and "Mousecar" award-winning artist Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Gonzales joined the studio in 1936 to help finish the ambitious animated feature and soon became an established comic strip and publicity artist. He penciled and inked the longrunning Sunday Mickey Mouse and daily Scamp comic strips, as well as other publicity comic strips for 1950s animated features like Cinderella and Peter Pan. The 10.5'' x 7.75'' preliminary illustration includes a few notes and is noted for page 63 in the book. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, and faint age-related toning.
