DescriptionHow the Grinch Stole Christmas Storyboard Original Art Group of 3 (MGM, 1966). "The Grinch hated Christmas, the whole Christmas season. Please don't ask why, no one quite knows the reason." Narrator Boris Karloff introduces us to the notorious Grinch in the 1966 holiday special masterpiece directed by Chuck Jones How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This is an unbelievably rare set of three original storyboard drawings by the hand of Maurice Noble (1911-2001). Mr Noble was the production designer of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and prolific production artist for many classic films and shorts including Walt Disney's first five feature animated films, a decade-long career on Warner Brothers shorts with Chuck Jones, and many Dr. Seuss cartoons with MGM. These wonderful storyboards are rendered in artist marker and ink on official MGM storyboard paper. They feature an alternate sequence from the sleigh scene in which the Grinch's dog Max swings the sleigh around a light post in the town square (additionally, the scene notes feature a silly pun on the French novelist Victor Hugo: "Victor Who-Go"). In addition to these, the third storyboard drawing is a spectacular close up on the Grinch, sinister smile and all, from the introductory shots of the character. An amazing find, these three drawings are framed together under Plexiglas with mat openings of 7" x 6.25" and an overall frame size of 22.5" x 24". The paper shows minor handling and edge wear with evidence of tape on the top, and the condition is Very Good. The frame is sold as is.
