    Description

How the Grinch Stole Christmas Original Production Cel Signed by Chuck Jones (MGM, 1966). "How could it be so? It came without ribbons... it came without tags... it came without packages, boxes or bags." A grumpy green hermit is so irritated at the thought of the nearby village having a good time celebrating Christmas that he disguises himself as Santa Claus, and with his dog, Max made to look like a reindeer, he sneaks into the village to steal all the Christmas packages, decoration and food only to learn that those are not the things that make Christmas. In this lot we have a terrific production cel of the Grinch with red eyes just moments before he turns into a blue-eyed better version of himself when he realizes that "maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store that maybe Christmas means a little bit more." The cel is hand-painted on 12 field acetate and signed by the show's legendary director, Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). The piece is in a frame of 19.75" x 20" under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 11.5" x 9.5". Included is a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Linda Jones Enterprises. Frame sold as-is. Chuck Jones production art is a must for any astute collector of animation art and this is one of the best production cels of the Grinch that we have seen. Fine condition. From the MacLaughlin Family Disney Collection.
