Heavenly Puss Tom and Jerry Production Cel Setup and Key Master Production Background (MGM, 1949). An original hand-inked and hand-painted production cel setup of Tom and Jerry on its Key Master hand-painted production background. In this scene Tom is trying to get Jerry to sign paperwork forgiving Tom for his antics, so he doesn't have to go Hell! Seen at about the 4:52 mark of the short, this is one of the best pure Tom and Jerry setups we have ever seen! The short was directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, animated by the crew of Ray Patterson, Irv Spence, Ken Muse, and Ed Barge, and was released on 7/9/49. The short was the 42nd Tom and Jerry theatrical cartoon. Great images of a 1" (Jerry) and an 8" (Tom), framed to an overall size of 19" x 16", with a mat opening of 12" x 8". The background can be seen in the Patrick Brion book on Tom and Jerry, on page 85! In Fine condition.
